Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and the developer of PDF Editor ("we", "us", "our") governing your use of the PDF Editor application for iOS/iPadOS (the "App"), available on the Apple App Store. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms and Apple's Usage Rules, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App for your personal, non-commercial purposes on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's usage rules.

2. Your Content

The App lets you open, create, edit, annotate, convert, and export PDF documents and insert images you provide ("Your Content"). You retain all ownership rights to Your Content. We do not claim any ownership over the documents, images, or files you create or edit using the App, and — because the App processes files locally on your device — we do not have access to Your Content, except for the portion of Your Content you choose to submit to an AI feature, as described in Section 5.

You are solely responsible for Your Content and for making sure you have the necessary rights to any documents or images you edit, convert, or share using the App. Keep your own backups; we are not responsible for loss of files stored on your device.

3. Subscriptions and Purchases

• The App may offer optional auto-renewable subscriptions (e.g., weekly, monthly, yearly plans) that unlock premium features.
• Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price you agreed to at purchase (subject to any price change notices from Apple).
• Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
• You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time in your device Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
• All purchases are billed and processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple under its own policies — we cannot issue refunds directly.

4. Permissions

Certain features (inserting photos, taking pictures for insertion into a PDF, saving exported files to your photo library) require you to grant Camera and/or Photo Library permissions. You can manage these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Declining a permission may limit the corresponding feature.

5. AI Features

The App offers optional AI-powered tools — Chat with PDF, Summarize, Analyze, Extract, Rewrite, and Translate ("AI Features"). By using an AI Feature, you acknowledge and agree that:

• The document text, attached photos, and messages you submit through an AI Feature are sent to our third-party AI provider, OpenAI, to generate a response, as described in our Privacy Policy.
• You will not submit content through an AI Feature that is illegal, infringing, or that you do not have the right to share with a third-party service.
• AI-generated output (summaries, extractions, rewrites, translations, and chat replies) may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. AI Features are provided for convenience only and are not a substitute for your own review — you are solely responsible for verifying any AI-generated output before relying on it.
• AI Features are metered by a local "AI credits" allowance tied to your subscription plan; unused credits do not roll over except as described within the App, and we may change credit costs or allowances for future periods.
• We do not warrant the availability, accuracy, or output of any AI Feature, which depends in part on a third-party service outside our control.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose, or to create, store, or distribute content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, or violates the rights of others;
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App except as permitted by applicable law;
• Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App, or attempt to extract its source code;
• Use the App to violate any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights.

7. Intellectual Property

The App itself — including its design, features, code, and branding, but excluding Your Content — is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. No rights are granted to you other than the limited license in Section 1.

8. Third-Party Services

The App uses Apple's In-App Purchase system and RevenueCat for subscription management, OpenAI to power the AI Features described in Section 5, and Firebase (Google) to remotely configure those AI Features. Your use of those services is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT ANY CONVERSION, EDIT, EXPORT, OR AI FEATURE OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR LOSSLESS. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING YOUR OWN BACKUPS OF ANY IMPORTANT FILES.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR REVENUE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App and delete it from your device at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 9, 10, and 13) will survive.

12. Apple-Specific Terms

Because the App is distributed via the Apple App Store, you acknowledge the following, which apply in addition to the rest of these Terms:

• These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
• Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services for the App.
• In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, for the App; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
• Apple is not responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any third-party claim that the App infringes that third party's intellectual property rights.
• You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance, Apple has the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles, except and to the extent mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence apply and cannot be waived.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Effective date" at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
